George Norton

Trustee

George is a content strategist and copywriter for Raising IT, the UK’s biggest provider of new websites for small to medium-sized charities. An Oxford graduate with a Masters in Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London, he has previously worked in production journalism roles at public and private organisations including Reed Business Information, IHS Jane’s and the Ministry of Defence.

Alongside these positions, he has regularly contributed as a speaker, writer and editor to a range of projects for healthcare charities such as Anthony Nolan, Bloodwise, Macmillan and Shine Cancer Support.

Diagnosed in 2005 with leukaemia, which relapsed in 2013 and led to a stem cell transplant the following year, George has been both a beneficiary of Full Circle Fund Therapies at St George’s and an active supporter of the charity since its initial foundation. A founding member of the Improving the Cancer Experience (ICE, now Voice) patient group at St George’s Hospital, he has spoken from his own experience at healthcare conferences and on national news bulletins, and was named Anthony Nolan’s Patient Champion in 2014.

Outside the healthcare arena, George has also worked for charities including Training for Life, where he was fundraising manager, and the Order of Malta Volunteers, where his roles included chairman of the annual fundraising ball, editor of the newsletter and secretary.

George is a Trustee of Full Circle Fund Therapies.
